John works aboard the 27′ Rita Joan on Casco Bay providing veterinary care to both pets and farm animals. He also provides home visits to the greater Portland area and the Acton area.He received his DVM from Ontario Veterinary College in 1977. He also did post-graduate work in small-animal surgery at Massey University, Palmerston, No. New Zealand. While there, he earned membership in the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Surgery. John has practiced small-animal medicine in England, Canada, New Zealand, and the US. In 1990 he opened the Brackett Street Veterinary Clinic in Portland’s West End. He sold this clinic in 2011 but continues to work closely with them as well as other clinics in the Portland area. Records generated by care given at house calls or on the boat are always shared with the owners’ choice of clinics.
John Flood lives with his wife Patti, a human being, a Brittany called Mojo, a Chiahuahua named Gus and several cats. They split their time between Portland and Acton, Maine.
